The present tense
The present tense denotes the present time. It is also used
to express habitual action, or to express an idea that is
generally accepted as true.
We hear the bell. (present time)
John works in an railway factory. (habitual action)
Honesty is the best policy. (generally accepted as true)
The present tense is often used to express future time.
If it rains, we shall not go to the
woods.
The trains to London arrives in 2 hours.
