Progressive forms of verbs
The progressive forms are used to show that an action is continuing
or progressing at the time indicated by a particular tense.
I am studying English. (the
action is continuing)
The progressive form of a verb is made up by using some form of
the verb to be with the ing form of the principal
verb. The form of verb that ends in ing is called the present
participle.
The following are the progressive forms of the verb call
for the 6 tenses (first person, singular)
I am waiting for you. (present progressive)
I was waiting for you. (past progressive)
I shall be waiting for you. (future
progressive)
I have been waiting for you. (present
perfect progressive)
I had been waiting for you. (past perfect
progressive)
I shall have been waiting for you.
(future perfect progressive)
