a complete thought, you have a sentence.

In order to express a complete thought, a sentence must have both
a subject and predicate. The subject
ia a word or group of words that tell us what or whom
the speaker or writer is talking about. The predicate
is the part of sentence that makes a statement about the subject.
the predicate usually tells what the subject is doing, or that
is happening to the subject.
